We were very excited to host not one but two children's
events last Saturday the 19th! Jacqueline Harvey joined us for a lively and
interesting chat about the next installments of the popular
Alice-Miranda and
Clementine Rose series. Our children's area was filled
with eager faces asking questions about the writing profession and of
Stephanie's travels. Jacqueline shared her travel stories, as well as
some hilarious conversations she's had with children around the world
about her books. With props and costumes ready, the kids even joined in
on a role-playing activity, acting along to scenes from the book as
Jacqueline read them out!
Later in the afternoon we were joined by award-winning author
Stephanie Dowrick who treated us all to a reading of her new picture
book,
The Moon Shines Out of the Dark. The book tells a touching and
beautifully illustrated story of a young boy called Harry who takes
comfort in the presence of the moon while he misses his mother. Lovely
and enchanting, the reading was very special indeed. Stephanie will join us
again on February 8th at 7.30pm to discuss her new book,
Everyday
Kindness.
